Every Miou item is hand-knitted by our exceptionally talented knitters in Peru, many of whom are single mothers trying to support their children. Working for Miou allows them to work from home so they can spend more time with their families while earning enough money to support and educate their kids. Knitting is a highly valued skill in that region of Peru, and it is handed down from mother to daughter, which ensures a better future for the next generation of young women. We value our knitters and pay them a fair wage for their work.

This dreamy blanket is impossibly soft and luscious. The space-dyed wool makes for a refreshed take on the throwback granny square. Hand-crocheted in a 50% alpaca and 50% merino wool blend, it has a generous, cozy drape.
Available in two sizes. Medium is 60"x60" (weight 2.5 kg) and large is 80"x80" (weight 4 kg).

Caring for your alpaca clothing:
Alpaca, while being a durable wool, it does need some special attention when you wash it. Here are our simple washing and drying steps:
- You never want to use hot water for baby alpaca wool, as the fabric will band together. Always use cold water and soak your garment with a mild detergent.
- Gently squeeze the item without wringing, which can cause stretching.
- Rinse well in cold water and carefully press out the extra water by hand.
- Use the towel method to get out the extra moisture; just lay clothing between two dry towels and then roll it up and push down to soak up the water.
- Lay flat on a clean towel to dry
And you’re done!
PS: Alpaca has natural anti-bacterial properties and seldom needs to be washed.
Caring for your cotton clothing:
While our cotton line is made to last, hand-crocheted clothing does need to be washed and dried carefully to ensure that it stays in top condition. Here are some simple washing and drying steps:
- If you’re washing by hand, simply soak your Miou clothing with a mild detergent in warm water.
- For machine washing, set your machine to the “delicate” setting and select the cold water option.
- Hang items to air dry.
