How to Wash Your Alpaca Pants

Baby alpaca is a wonderful wool for kids, because it’s so soft that it won’t scratch or irritate their delicate skin. It is also a very “green” wool, because alpacas leave a minimal impact on the earth with their grazing habits.

To care for your alpaca pants, wash with a mild detergent in cold water. Gently squeeze and squish to get them clean without wringing or twisting the fabric, which will stretch it. To dry, you can lay them flat between two towels and roll them up to soak up any excess water before placing on a clean towel to air dry.

Kids First: The Story of Miou

Christine Dubin, founder and designer for Miou, has always put kids first. As a mother, she knew when she started the company that she wanted to create something that she could be proud of and that would set a good example for the next generation. Combining her flair for European- inspired design with her philosophies about social and ecological responsibility, she wanted to make products she could be proud of.

Miou uses earth-friendly baby alpaca wool and organic cotton, as well as certified eco-friendly dyes. Dubin pays her team of highly skilled knitters in Peru a fair living wage, which allows them to care for and support their children. Her dream of balancing a business with the things that matter most has come true, and each and every purchase of lovingly hand-crafted Miou clothing helps to carry it out every day.
